Blackhawks News · Lady Golfers Advance to 2nd straight Regional

The Lady Hawks golf team is heading back to regionals.

In sectional play today the Lady Hawks finished third behind section champions Bedford North Lawrence who shot a 356 and second place Seymour Owls who shot a 403. The Lady Hawks finished with a 409. The top three teams advanced to regional competition next Saturday at Country Oaks golf course in Montgomery.

Finishing out the team scoring was Brownstown Central with a 425. Paoli Rams with a 429 and Salem with a 508.

Individually, Addyson Bailey of BNL was overall medalists with an 81. Keisha Bennett of Springs Valley was second with an 83. Olivia Sanders of BNL was third with an 85.

The rest of the scoring for the Lady Hawks, Kyla Tarr finished with a 104. Kelly Sammons with a 108. Macy Hall with a 114 and Kyleigh Marshall with a 120.

The weather was perfect through the first 3/4 of the day, then the sun came out and started to warm things up. The Lady Hawks were able to take advantage of the cooler conditions and get off to a great start on the front 9. They cut 5 shots off Thursday’s score on the front side.

On the back side the averages went up a little but not as big of a difference as last year. The greens on the back side were much faster and it took the Lady Hawks a few holes to settle in and make the adjustments. Hole 12 gave all golfers the most trouble and caused several 4 and 5 putts over all.

All eyes now turn to Country Oaks and next Saturday’s regional competition.
